Dreams Made At the Salon: The Power of The Blonde Bond

The salon chair is not only a place for beauty but shared secrets, unexpected tears and hearty laughter. And, for a pair of striking blonds, that chair inspired so much more.  It first launched a friendship then lit the entrepreneurial fire in both women. New to town at the time, Kelley Havemann was looking for a stylist to keep her hair just the right shade of platinum.  Her head turned when she met stylist Jessica Sexton with locks of the same color. Soon, they realized they had much more in common than just being busy moms with similar interests and a love of being very blonde. They each had a desire to own their own business.  Jessica began her journey by first opening one salon.  That became two, then eventually three.  Keep counting, because the fourth is having its grand opening this week but with a twist.

Now, Kelley is joining Jessica to become a self-described “boss babe”.  A pair of pink mugs with that moniker painted in metallic gold is prominently displayed in their new collaboration.  Their creation is a one-stop shop for beauty.  They want clients to walk out with a new look from hair to clothes.  Felicitous Boutique offers women’s wear hand-picked by Kelley and Alyssa James Beauty Concepts is a full-service salon with an array of beauty offerings.

I spoke with both entrepreneurs about living their best life. Kelley shares what’s behind the unique name, her vision, and why this mother of four chose to fulfill a dream of opening a boutique.
